Organization Overview
Engineered BioPharmaceuticals, Inc. (eBio) is focused on advancing the state-of-the-art of dry powder pharmaceutical manufacturing and delivery. The current and future waves of innovative and cost effective pharmaceutical therapeutics, particularly biologics, will benefit from retention of maximum pharmaceutical fidelity, long-term stability, portability and intuitive self administration delivery. Transforming active pharmaceuticals into a dry powder solid state, either transitionally or as the final state of delivery, allows for the above patient-centric properties to be engineered into therapeutics. Engineered dry powders can provide primary containment of the active, extended room temperature stability, and enhance targeted, layered, timed release, rapid reconstitution, or other novel delivery modes. eBio has successfully perfected and advanced dry powder particle forming technologies and has the infrastructure necessary to assist companies seeking to increase the therapeutic efficacy and/or usability of their pharmaceutical therapy. The company provides partner companies with a full platform of services from formulation to non-aseptic/aseptic pre-clinical/clinical/commercial supply of finished dry powders , novel single and multi-use delivery device development and high speed dry powder filling into standard and unique delivery devices. Our underlying proprietary dry powder manufacturing technology is a form of Atmospheric Spray Freeze Drying, or ASFD. In this process, a liquid formulation is atomized and instantly frozen, which minimizes migration and motion of the active pharmaceutical while setting the desired spherical shape and prescribed diameter of the final dry powder particle. A cold, dry gas is passed through the frozen droplet bed to sublimate the frozen aqueous portion yielding the active and excipients in a dry solid state. The result is a very porous, aerodynamically light particle that is easily controlled from a density and size perspective.
