Ann Abanto was appointed Senior Director, Project Management Office for Virginia Operations, in January 2026. She leads the strategic planning and execution of AstraZeneca's $4.5 billion manufacturing investment in Albemarle County—the company's largest-ever U.S. manufacturing project.
Abanto oversees the full project lifecycle, managing cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of a state-of-the-art facility that will manufacture drug substance for AstraZeneca’s weight management, metabolic, and antibody drug conjugate cancer therapies while adhering to regulatory and quality standards.
Prior to this role, she led global supply strategy for AstraZeneca's third party supply products, managing external manufacturing relationships across multiple therapeutic areas. She also held roles in AZ as Head of Strategy and Operations for Oncology Medical Affairs, and in Global Procurement. Prior to AstraZeneca, she worked at Johnson & Johnson in various supply chain and procurement roles.
Abanto holds a BS in Business Logistics from The Pennsylvania State University and resides in Virginia.
